Teambuilding 2016

I bet that my post would be the last summer outing aka teambuilding post for this year. Well, our teambuilding activities for this year was not the usual teambuilding that we usually have annually. For the past years, we have been doing this activity as a whole organization meaning to say, not by division or department like they have suggested us to do for this year. The thing is (this is what I've only heard and am not really sure if it is a fact) the office did not have budget for our teambuilding because they have allotted a huge amount for the celebration of our founding anniversary this year.

Anyways, we were in-charged of the token/souvenir items for the anniversary so our boss decided to postpone our teambuilding which was originally scheduled last week of May. Also, some of our staff had a very important activity last week which required much attention and time. I hope that some of you have seen on television the launching of our hybrid electric train at PNR Tutuban station. I wanted to attend the launching so I could write a good post and photos about the said launching but unfortunately, I was not invited haha. Congratulations to the project team members for the successful launch of the train. As one of the many commuters riding the PNR train everyday, I am more than happy to see this kind of development.

Ang haba ng intro haha sa presinto ka magpaliwanag!... Okay, so finally I heard that our boss will be announcing the details of our teambuilding activities today. We planned on going to the twin falls of Kalayaan, Laguna but the rainy season has already started and I have phobia in visiting falls during this season so I was thankful that they are choosing a different location/venue for the outing. But it would have been a very good experience visiting the twin falls. I was actually excited before so it's kind of sad that it was not pushed through.

Our destination for this year's teambuilding would be at Pansol. I have been hearing about it many times in the past but seriously, I do not know where Pansol is. Since we are already very late for this kind of activity, they have decided that we will just be going to Pansol.

(I will be posting about my Pansol experience after the teambuilding.)

For the meantime, I would be glad to give details about our previous teambuilding activities for the information of others who are looking for a venue for their upcoming teambuilding.

2008

My first time visiting the famous Laiya in San Juan, Batangas was in 2008. We stayed at Sabangan Resort. I was amazed of the clear sea water and the weather was so nice that time and was perfect for swimming all day.

For more information about the resort, you can visit Sabangan Beach Resort Facebook Page and Sabangan Beach Resort Website.

I had a really good time that time so thinking that we are going to hold our next team building in the same area made me more excited.

2012

From our office in Taguig, we travelled for 3 hours to reach our destination - One Laiya Beach Resort, again, in San Juan, Batangas. The beach was different from other beaches that we have gone through. It was like we are visiting a farmhouse or ranch - that kind of feeling then when you turned your head on the other side, you'd feel like you are in Makati.. hehe sort of that feeling because there was a huge building there - the Estrellas de Mendoza Playa Resort.

Anyways, room rates at One Laiya is kind of expensive. They have nipa hut rooms which was very near the beach but I believe that the rooms do not have comfort rooms. I was with my husband that time and thought of getting the cheapest room for Php 2,400.00 but since it has no CR, we decided to just bring our very old camping tent. The one that my husband used during their picnics when he was still a child.

One Laiya offers different types of accommodation. For more information you can visit One Laiya Facebook Page.

I have downloaded some of their room rates which you can find below.

I hope that helps.

Also, if you are planning to bring food and drinks inside the resort, One Laiya won't charge you. Yes, no corkage fees except for those who will be bringing caterers like we did.

One thing that I did not like about One Laiya was that, it would be hard to reach the place if you don't have your own car or vehicle. Well, I guess that would be the same  for many resorts out there.

Civil Wedding Ideas

They say that wedding is one of the most special events in one’s life. Some couples even plan this important day for like 1-2 years ahead. But for some, like us, we only had a month for the preparation and it was really tiresome. So for those who are planning to have a Civil Wedding, I really suggest that you should have at least 3 months for the preparation.

To make to story short, we are not emotionally, spiritually and financially ready when we decided to get married last 2011. It’s just that brother’s eldest sister also decided to get married the following year and their family wouldn’t want 2 weddings in the same year so they requested us to hold ours before 2011 ends. Which means we only had a month to prepare everything.

Immediately, we went to Taguig Municipal Hall to apply for marriage license. FYI, for those who are below 25 years old, a marriage consent will be required. So you will have to ask your parents to go to your municipal civil registry office to get this document.

Due to limited time and budget, a church wedding will no longer be possible. So I looked for an affordable and good venue where we can have our wedding ceremonies and reception at the same time. We went to Villa Salud in Taguig because I wanted my good friends and colleagues from my previous job to attend our wedding but sadly, their rate/package is a bit high for our budget. We visited several venues until finally, we just decided to reserve Red Pavillion in Sto. Niño, Meycauayan, Bulacan for Four Thousand Pesos. They have two rooms located at the second floor that you can also rent if you have relatives coming from far places. For a simple civil wedding like ours, I think that Red Pavillion was just perfect. If we only have more time, I truly believe that we could set up the venue to be a perfect place for an important day like wedding.

With the help of my husband’s sister and father, we were able to prepare a descent wedding invitation for a very minimal cost. We could have made this more beautiful if we weren’t running out of time.

My friend accompanied me to Divisoria to buy a simple wedding gown. From our office in Taguig, we went to PNR station in Bicutan going to Tutuban. Past route indeed. There were many choices but I chose a simple gown for one thousand two hundred pesos just right for the kind of wedding we are having. As for my groom, he rented his suit for six hundred pesos. We were not able to talk about our attires (how weird) but it was a good thing that they matched.

If you are from the nearby areas of Angono and Taytay, looking for all types of gowns, suit, barong and costumes, you can find Grace Gown and Barong Show Room at #44 National Road, Brgy. Muzon, Taytay, Rizal.

My mom was the one to find a suitable judge to officiate our wedding. She went to Meycauayan Municipal Hall and found a good one for Three Thousand Five Hundred Pesos. I like how the judge presided our wedding. It was fun but his messages and advices – tagos sa puso. It's just that, hindi ako yung tipo ng tao na makikitang mong nagseseryoso in front of so many. So parang natatawa lang ako.

Our wedding was schedule at two in the afternoon but I came a bit late since I was still at the salon near the venue having my hair and make-up done. I paid four hundred pesos for the services.

Half of our wedding budget was allotted for the catering service/food. That was twenty five thousand pesos (250 per person). I was more than happy and contented that I was able to get Rio’s Catering Services since the owner treated us like family. Plus, we really loved their food. Our guests love their mechado.

You can reach Rio’s Catering Services at the following numbers:
(044) 323-0305 / 09166465565 / 09165502966

They are located at #23 Genesis St., Phase 3D, Sto. Niño, Meycauayan, Bulacan. They are pretty much near Red Pavillion.

We also rented the sound system for two thousand five hundred pesos care of Rio’s Catering.

And for the tokens, I really did not have much choice so I just gave up the idea. Sadly, no souvenirs for our attendees. That was why I wanted the food to be really good.

Lastly, we did not have this tall wedding cake that most couple would want but later on, we learned that our caterer could also provide wedding cakes. Too bad that we were not able to discuss about it with them earlier.

Trainings and Seminars

Just a short introduction, our office provides different services. We have a foundry workshop and our men accept metalcasting jobs. We also have a plating and heat treatment facility. Like I have said in my previous post, I am not a techie person so as much as I want to explain more, hindi na kaya ng powers ko haha.

We also have a testing facilities/laboratories which offers mechanical, physical metallurgy and chemical analysis jobs. And many more (corrosion test, XRF, etc)

As far as I know, we do offer trainings and seminars as well like welding and CNC (with allowance, I believe so hope you guys could still grab the chance to apply for it).

Where to find us?

For more information, kindly call our Training Department at (02) 8370431 to 38 local 465/466.

New Found Hobby: Playing Darts

I used to play bowling in my previous work (but am not that good ha) but when I transferred to a new office, they already have players so I no longer made an effort to volunteer myself to be one of the players (am not that good din naman kasi haha).

I was not playing anything for the past 5 years of my stay in this new office (except COC hehe) until we were temporarily transferred to a new building because ours were being renovated. I learned that they have a dart board placed in one of their workshops. I also had the chance to play darts in my previous work but since they don't just put the pins beside the board all the time, I was not able to practice it. But I really like playing it that time.

I tried playing darts with my colleagues. They thought me the rules and they were happy that I can score good even though I was just a beginner that time (hehe that was actually 2 or 3 months ago). But the most happiest of all is me. I haven't got any me-time since I gave birth.

I was part of the group who played and won the championship prize organized by one of our associations in the office. I was the only girl in the team so somehow, I feel a bit special and proud of myself. Also, my colleague organized a small tournament at work and my partner and I was in third place out of 11 pairs. My problem is that I am always nervous and my hands are shaking during competitions. I hope that I will be able to get over it so I could have a better chance in winning.

Family Bonding

My brother is experiencing depression for some time now. He is just staying at home and would not want to go out and mingle with others. But fortunately, I was able to convinced him to go scrolling with us. We went to the nearest mall but I could really tell that he was very uncomfortable during the travel. He was actually uncomfortable during the whole time we were out. I may not understand why since we took an air-conditioned van going to the mall and the mall itself is air-conditioned but he still feels like he was sweating a lot. There was a time that he already looked like he was irritated so I just don't talk much.

But it was really a good thing that he came with us.  The happiest person is actually my father. He was actually in disbelief when he saw my brother with us when we arrive. My father was not able to go with us but it was actually the best Father's Day gift that he received ever. I really hope that we could do that more often.

Celebrating 50 Golden Years

It was an honor to be a part of our office' 50th Anniversary aka Employees' Day which was held last Friday, 17 June 2016 at Taguig City University Auditorium in Bicutan.

Last week was a busy one since it was a weeklong celebration. Since I am not a techie person, I only took part on some of the event which happened last week.

We had a fun run last Tuesday where I and a colleague were assigned to give wristband/ballers to runners.

I also took some photos and videos during the activity. I was also one of the Dart players which competed and won in the Women's Doubles category with my very generous colleague Ate Cie.
We also had an International Conference but I was not part of it so I can't give details about it. Apart from those mentioned above, they have also organized a homecoming for their previous employees and those who have served the office for 25 years or more. I heard that the homecoming was a hit. I was kind of sad that I was not part of it.
Anyways, the much awaited Employees' Day was held last Friday. Many of us were asking as to who chose the venue for the event. Well, the auditorium itself is okay. It's like the usual ballroom area of hotels. It was big and spacious. They've decorated the stage and personally, I liked it.

What I did not like about the event was, there should be photographers at the entrance to take photos of the arriving employees. Or maybe, there really was a photographer. It's just that we came late hahaha so the photographer was already busy covering the event program.
We were told that the place will cold since it is air-conditioned but it was really the very first thing I did not like about event. It was sweating from morning until the program ends at past 6pm. Had a very bad headache due to it.

For me, the food is a very big factor in an event like this. But it was like the typical managed buffet that we usually have during our past anniversaries. We had fish fillet and beef during lunch, and we had the same menu in the evening. We actually arrived at the event kind of late so maybe it was the reason why we were served a plate of pasta with sardines sauce. They should have told us beforehand so we could have brought our toothbrush in the event.
There were games and raffles, but I did not join or won anything.
They were supposed to give us a jacket during the event but unfortunately, the supplier was not able to finish all the jackets on time so they were not able to distribute them. The supplier arrived today with the jackets and I am kind of excited to get mine now.

I love the idea that there was a photo booth in the event. It was available 3 hours in the morning then another 3 hours in the afternoon.
